I often wonder how Raid: Shadow Legends players approach certain specific components of the game, the autoplay being one of them. For those of you who are not familiar with the phenomenon, Raid: Shadow Legends is a hybrid who’s game mechanics mix elements of MMORPGs, strategy and hero collectable games. Simply put, players assemble teams of Champions in order to have them fight in dungeons, quests or raids. Successfully completing these instances reward players with gear and loot. The objective is to have your Champions become stronger so you can take on content of higher difficulty. Players will also try to climb the rankings in the PvP arena, either for prestige or even more loot.
Strategy is obviously a very important factor and making sound decisions at the right time will go a long way in ensuring that your Champions perform well when dungeon crawling, arena fighting or boss raiding. Most Champions have 3 or 4 unique abilities (common and uncommon Champions have only 1 or 2, but you will quickly outgrow them) and the way you cycle their abilities is key when you want to tackle hard dungeons or defeat strong opponents. Hence my question: do you use autoplay when playing Raid: Shadow Legends? Question that could also have been: do you trust the AI to come up with the proper decisions when using autoplay?
My guess is that most players will answer “Well, it depends if I’m farming or if I’m running content that requires deeper strategy”. Like most MMORPGs and hero collectable games, grinding is a must. You will want to farm for the things that you need to have your Champions become stronger or you will have to go shard hunting to unlock new Champions. When doing so, you will probably want to farm content that your team of Champions can defeat easily. Having an option that allows you to multi-run an instance on autoplay is a very cool thing to have.
I guess the only real issue that I have with autoplay is that using the option literally means that I’m not playing. And why would I play a game if I’m not actively playing? (Or is that only tautology? Or even rhetoric? Or am I thinking too much?) Anyways, I guess the answer is that I should simply kill two birds with one stone and farm for the things that I need while running content that is also challenging.
So what about you? Do you use autoplay in Raid: Shadow Legends? If so, when and why?
So long fellow gamers!
